THE DEEP CREEK LAKE ART & WINE FESTIVAL
The 19th annual Deep Creek Lake Art & Wine Festival, benefiting HART for Animals and Garrett Lakes Arts Festival (GLAF), features beautifully handcrafted works by local and regional artisans, more than 200 wines to taste from national wineries, a lounge to watch college football games and purchase beer on tap, a cigar bar, live entertainment, food, wine store, lodging packages and more, all set in the beautiful mountains of western Maryland.

Skyhoundz Disc Dog Championship
The “Skyhoundz” Classic World Canine Disc Championship Series, which is the largest disc-dog series in the world, is set for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, July 21st through 23rd at the Lions Club Ball Park, adjacent to the HART Animal Center, on Bumble Bee Road, in Accident, Maryland. The three-day event will feature an amateur day on Friday at 4:30, and approximately 30 teams competing in various qualifying events on Saturday and Sunday. The event is free to spectators. Hot dogs, pretzels, chips, soda, and water will be available for sale by HART volunteers.
The “Skyhoundz” Series consists of Distance and Accuracy disc competition, using one disc; freestyle choreographed routines set to music, using up to five discs, performing a variety of tricks and maneuvers; and pairs freestyle choreographed routines set to music and using up to ten discs, performing a variety of tricks and maneuvers.
Competitors may register for six classes of events, from youth and novice to master and expert. Registration forms are available online at www.mad-dogs.org. Registration at the event begins at 8:30 am on Saturday. The competition begins immediately after registration. The proceeds of the event will benefit HART for Animals.
For those interested in trying their pet’s jumping and fetching skills, expert disc competitors will conduct an amateur event at 4:30 pm on Friday, July 21st. “We’ll be showing how to properly throw a disc and teaching your dog the basic skills of jumping,” says Ray Lowman, “Skyhoundz organizer. “The training is free, but a donation to HART is most appreciated.”
MAD Dogs (The Mid-Atlantic Disc Dog Club) is hosting the “Skyhoundz” Classic. The regional club supports all K9 Disc Enthusiasts and Spectators alike. Their focus is competitive fun, welcoming all new members, both human and canine, at all competition levels.

First Annual Western Maryland Hardwater Tournament to benefit HART for Animals

Those who wish to participate will register their team/individual name and pay by contacting the above email. A unique three-digit code will be emailed to each team/individual at 5 am on the morning of the tournament. To submit a fish, you must include a written tag with your code in the picture, along with a visual measurement. Measurements must be from the head to the end of the tail. All pictures should be submitted by 7 pm on February 18th to count. Please submit a picture of your largest fish in each category (3 pictures). Following the final submissions, the largest fish from each three categories (Perch, Walleye, and Pike) will be added up per team. The top three teams with the most combined inches will receive a prize. Both local and nonlocal businesses have graciously donated items for prizes.
1st Place Prize = Cash amount based on participation
2nd Place Prize = Cash amount based on participation/Donated Tackle
3rd Place Prize = Donated Tackle

Please join our Honorary Chairs, Drs. Pat & Sue Bredel at this very special gala to help raise funds for our adoptable animals.
The Bredel’s support of HART has been an inspiration in the development of the HART Adoption Center and in the creation of the Bredel Veterinary Clinic in the HART Center, where Sue Bredel continues to perform spay and neuter surgeries for pets in low-income households.
Proceeds from our gala will provide us with funds to keep our once-homeless pets in a safe place while waiting for their forever homes.
The evening will offer dinner, dancing, and a silent auction for luxury vacations and many other fun items!
Tickets are $150 per person (cash bar).
