HART’s Here To Help

Giving Back

Following the success of our #GivingTuesday #FollowYourHART fundraising campaign, HART wanted to give back to the community that has given us so much. Executive Director Paula Yudelevit and Operations Manager Nate Calhoun, knowing that the winters here can be tough for many, especially considering how trying 2020 has been for everyone, hatched a plan to help keep animals well-fed and warm throughout the coming winter season.

Together they collected a large stockpile of dog and cat food, along with 25 bales of straw, to offer to local families who may be in need of a little extra help this year. The food ensures that local animals don’t go hungry when they need the food most, and the straw helps keep animals warm when the temperature drops to Garrett County’s typically atypical low degrees.

HART publicized this effort on social media and spent over a month bringing food and straw to families in need during the months of December and January. Just about everyone here at HART lent a hand to make sure that anyone who requested food and straw was able to leave with whatever they needed.

We’re very happy to report that we have handed out roughly 800lbs of food and 19 bales of straw to those in need.

We couldn’t have made this happen without the generous donations of many people. We cannot thank you enough for your kindness and are very proud to have you as part of the HART for Animals family.
